Updates and Migration - Overview¶
To update your Industrial Edge system when a new version has been released, you must update the following components in the given sequence:
- Updating the IEM OS
- Updating the Industrial Edge Management App
- Updating IEM Services
- Updating Edge Devices
- Updating Configurators
- Updating System and other Apps
Note Snapshot recommended Before beginning the update procedure, you should take a snapshot beforehand. The snapshot is not meant as a long time backup, but helps you to overcome for example app incompatibilities caused by an update.
Note Internet and IE Hub access required Ensure that your IEM is connected to the Internet and that the IE Hub is reachable to download the required updates.
Note Required domains For a flawless operation of Industrial Edge, you must enable access to the domains described in the Security - Overview manual.
Industrial Edge Release Management Process¶
Industrial Edge is developed in agile release process. We work in release cycles where each release cycle takes approximately 9 weeks to complete.
This means every 9 weeks you will receive new features and bug fixes and therefore it is important that you configure your internal business processes to follow this release process.
Update strategy¶
It is necessary to always upgrade to the next higher version first, even if multiple updates are available.
