Overview

The Cloud Connector allows you to send data from your Industrial Edge Device to a cloud infrastructure, such as the MindSphere IoT extension, Azure IoT Hub, or AWS IoT, or to a local infrastructure. All data is transmitted using the MQTT protocol and encrypted via TLS/SSL.

The Cloud Connector consists of the following two components:

  • Cloud Connector Configurator
  • Cloud Connector

With the Cloud Connector Configurator, you can configure Cloud Connector application installed in any IE Device, from your IEM.

The Cloud Connector accesses data of the Databus from defined topics.

The Cloud Connector Configurator is based on the following three elements:

Element Description
Adapters The bus adaptor connects the Cloud Connector with the Databus or a MQTT server. The bus adaptor receives data about a defined topic and sends this data to the router.
Connecting Routes The router is the central control unit. The router decides which data is sent to which of the four possible cloud infrastructures. The Cloud Client to which the data is forwarded is based on the "routes". The routes send data through the various topics to the corresponding cloud infrastructure.
Cloud Client The Cloud Client is the connection instance to the cloud infrastructure. Each Cloud Client includes a specific type of cloud, such as Azure IoT Hub, to which the Cloud Connector connects to. You configure different parameters depending on the cloud infrastructure.
Also the Cloud Connector allows you to send data from your Industrial Edge Device to a local infrastructure.
